About

Greetings. I’m Io Dodds, a vivacious and ambitious tech reporter for the Daily Telegraph’s Silicon Valley bureau. From my home office in Oakland, California, I cover the technology companies that have become the new legislators of humankind – as well as the stranger things the internet has made possible, from viral raids on Area 51 to the Fortnite World Cup. If you have a tip or a pitch, do get in touch.

Before coming here, I was as an assistant editor on the Telegraph’s opinion desk, planning, commissioning and editing our major news coverage. I first joined the Telegraph in 2013 through its graduate trainee scheme, which involved six month’s combined placement at the Press Association and Newcastle’s Evening Chronicle. I hold a first-class MA in Journalism from Goldsmiths, University of London.

I previously wrote under the name Laurence Dodds, prior to coming out as a transgender woman in June 2021.
